More About Shipping Shipments are packaged with care and extremely well so if any shipping damage occurs the post office or courier has done a poor job. However I have never had a shipment problem and received comments reflect the time and care I spend. Custom shipping boxes are made for fragile items and to minimize shipping cost when dimensional weight is an issue and time is spent to find and use lighter packaging materials when slightly less weight is needed to reduce a shipments cost. Salvaged shipping boxes, cardboard & other packaging materials are used to also minimize shipment costs, but packaging tape, label and post office trip costs plus the occasional postage cost that's more then expected quickly add up so a shipping & handling fee of $2.50 is included in my shipping cost quotes. I quote and use air mail for most shipments as it usually costs little more then much slower surface shipment and prevents having to deal with countless delivery enquires. But the occasional package will still take a little longer to arrive then expected and if you find yourself about to "click on send" to enquire about a shipment, try "clicking on save" and waiting a few more days to see what happens first as it appears some type of sub-conscious paranormal activity is involved with all of this that causes one to enquire just before a slow shipment is about to be delivered. Here is what's been happening....... Bruce wrote: "Please verify that you shipped my item on ....... I replied: "Items tend to appear within a day of someone writing so you will likely receive it today or tomorrow (this has happened twice so far). With customs and who knows what goes on at the post office, one can never count on when a shipment will be delivered." Bruce replied the following day: "Are you psychic? They showed up in the mail yesterday afternoon." Mark enquired about his shipment and I replied: "From past experience, every shipment arrived within a day after someone enquired about it so your package will probably arrive tomorrow. It was early morning when I told this to the last person so I jokingly said that his shipment would probably show up that afternoon.
A few hours later he emailed to ask if I was a mind reader as his shipment was just delivered." Mark replied: "Good Afternoon Barry. Well you are batting 1000, the card arrived a few minutes ago just as you predicted. Well packaged and in perfect condition. Thanks again, and have a great day!" I replied: "Thanks for letting me know. It would be interesting to know what sub-conscious paranormal thing it is that causes one to wait until just before their package is delivered and then enquire." |
Edward often ships expensive test equipment and sent me the following . . . .
Some agree, that parcels are treated in the manner described above, however others say the situation has improved greatly and that shipping companies and the post office no longer tolerate such behaviour. Which ever is true . . . . . . I don't take any chances and pack my shipments as Edward recommends. |
